LAW COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

LAW-2703 International Legal Practice Ms. Christine Bustany, 2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

This course introduces students to both the substantive law as well as the practice of international law, focusing specifically on private international law. Private international law is concerned primarily with transnational relations among individuals and non-state entities—and is an increasingly important field indispensable to a legal practitioner dealing with transnational legal matters. Among other things, students will examine the fundamentals of private international law, practicing law in an international context, as well as the practical relevance of international, comparative, and foreign law, basic structures of certain foreign legal systems, and the different roles of lawyers.

Prerequisite: restricted to students who have or will complete an international internship
