agent); any person serving on Suffolk University’s Board of Trustees; or any student serving on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievance committee, or assisting another school official in
5. In an emergency, the University discloses information from education records to the appropriate parties, including parents, if the University deems the information necessary to protect the health, safety or well being of the student or other individuals. Such disclosure may include any disciplinary action previously taken for conduct that posed a significant risk to the safety and well-being of that student, other students or members of the University community. Another exception permits Suffolk University to disclose your “directory information” to any one within the Suffolk University community and to the general public. Suffolk University has designated the following as directory information: name, address, email address, telephone listing, photograph, date and place of birth, grade level, enrollment status, dates of attendance, major field of study, degrees, honors and awards received, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, height and weight of members of athletic teams, and the most recent educational agency or institution attended. All other student information will not be released to students, parents, or outside agencies unless accompanied by a written release of information, signed by the student, which complies with the requirements of FERPA, unless the disclosure of information is authorized by FERPA. Students may request that directory information not be released to any person without their prior written consent by reviewing the Manage My Privacy Settings task in Workday. You may give such notification at any time, but it will be effective only prospectively. Suffolk University also discloses education records without a student’s consent to officials of another school in which a student seeks or intends to enroll. Please note that, even if you opt-out, photos and all other directory information will always be available to faculty, administration and staff with legitimate educational interests as defined by FERPA. Information on other exceptions authorizing Suffolk University to disclose education records without a student’s consent is available through the Registrar’s Office.
In Workday, a student can provide access to academic and financial information to a Friend or Family. This access can be given or revoked at any time by the student.
